Apple’s 2020 iPhones could prove to be a milestone in the history of iPhones. The company is expected to launch 5G-enabled iPhones next year that feature a brand new design. In addition to that the tech giant is also expected to increase the RAM capacity of its next generation iPhones. Now, a new report states that the company is expected to ship truly AirPods-like earbuds alongside its iPhone 12 series smartphones.
Taiwanese publication, Digitimes, quoting industry sources said that the Cupertino, California based tech company is expected to ship truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds along with its 2020 iPhones. For your reference, TWS earbuds refers to Apple AirPods or Samsung Galaxy Buds like earphones.
The report also claims that apart from Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi are also planning to bundle their smartphones with TWS earbuds starting next year.
Apple AirPods at the moment ship for $159 (or Rs 11,999 in India). It seems unlikely that Apple would replace its earpods that cost $29 (Rs 1,999 in India) separately with TWS earbuds that cost well above $150 because it is likely to increase the overall price of the device. Digitimes has a mixed record when it comes to predicting details about Apple. Safe to assume even if the tech giant does decide to bundle TWS earbuds with its 2020 iPhones, it would ship it the top variant iPhone, which would possibly be called the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple launches its iPhones in September every year, which means that we have roughly nine months to determine if this report gains more popularity over time.
Separately, Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis in his report noted that Apple’s iPhone 12 series smartphones are likely to come with higher 6GB RAM, which would be significant step up from the 4GB RAM that is available in its 2019 iPhones. It is worth noting Apple doesn’t reveal the RAM capacity of its iPhones. The report by the Barclays analyst also suggests that the 2020 iPhones will come with a rear-facing 3D sensing camera feature support for mm Wave “for higher-performance 5G”.
In addition to that the 2020 iPhones are expected to be powered by the company’s next generation A14 chipset and run on the company’s iOS 14 mobile operating system.
